Day #145

Major drama today in Unit 1/85 Nudgee Rd.
Cake's uncle called me this afternoon and gave me the third degree asking about how his niece was going, how many nights was she working at the restaurant per week and whether she slept at home every night. I tried to be polite and respect Cake's privacy, but the whole business sounded funny to me and damn right I was! At home, I found the poor thing crying in our bedroom! He threatened to send her back to Thailand!!!

Now, it's none of my business of course, and none of yours either, but can you actually believe this guy? Dragging me - Sabrina and Paolo, yes, he called them as well - in his family business? Does he think we're her nannies or something?! Expect me to tell on her? Unbelievable.
I just hope Cake will be able to sort things out with her uncle and the sooner, the better. I know she's young and all, but she won't go anywhere if he keeps her this "protected".

Tonight I went over to Karen's. She's still in Europe, but Tony has come back last week and tonight Casey and Alex cooked enchiladas for us. Tasty. It was nice catching up with them :)

Tragedia epocale oggi nell'appartamento 1 all'85 di Nudgee Rd.

Day #144

Oh my. You know how tonight was supposed to be Armageddon at the restaurant? Well, you would NEVER guess, but, may it be the prep talk last night, may it be more communication, the preparations and the floor divided in sections, but Kyle and I, with the help of Lois, the new runner, we did just awesomely tonight.
We were so worried we would screw up that we couldn't believe everything was going THAT smoothly. It was great. It just felt great. The restaurant was packed, but still nothing went wrong and not only that, but we weren't even that stressed or desperate. Wow. You feel the difference when you're not under the pressure of being late and having people to wait for their meals. I wish every Saturday night went like this!!!
Kyle and I, not only were speechless, but extremely proud of ourselves when Davina congratulated us on the good job - nobody would have thought we'd be this good! Tony this afternoon was telling me he didn't know whether we'd be able to cope with such numbers.. I am just more than glad we did it. Such an empowering feeling after tonight.

ps. anyway I believe Lois did the trick. I mean, with a third person on the floor always there to serve drinks and food, it was easy for Kyle and I to focus on the new customers, cleaning and setting tables, taking orders and all.. Nice.

Omioddio.

Fantastico.

Day #143

I'm dead. I wonder where I find the strength to type tonight.
The restaurant was busy as Hell. As I mentioned you at the beginning of the week, Tunda is abroad for a couple of days and that left just Kyle and me on the floor. Saying we were running - or power walking, as it doesn't look good to sprint in the midst of the restaurant - like headless chickens would be an understatement.
Davina was furious. Once she snapped at me and said ''If you two guys cannot pull it together on a Friday night, how are you going to do that tomorrow night when we will be REALLY busy?''. She might have had a point, you know, Kyle and I could do with a little more coordination, but we were busy all right tonight. Well, anyway, at the close, she gave us a little bit of a prep talk and I guess I'll let you know how the evening goes.

Now, I'm hitting the shower in a minute, just wanted to apologize for not writing anything yesterday, but Claire and I we hung out to this awesome club where they had Salsa Night and came back home late.. I actually crashed at her place for the night and of course couldn't update the blog from there.
Just FYI, it was awesome! We had such good fun! Will tell you more soon!

Day #141

Today I managed to do what I've been procrastinating for the last couple of days: I cleaned my bathroom and bedroom as well as kitchen and living room. All this before heading to the restaurant for my shift this evening.
Today there was a very important Aussie rules match here in Brisbane and we were bound to get fewer costumers than usual - I think we served a total of 7 tables. Impressive.
I know I said I should have braced myself for this week, as Tunda couldn't work, but seems like Davina took all the weight of it: tomorrow I'll be off all day and on Friday I'll just be working from 5PM onwards. Oh, well.

Day #140

Just some thoughts on today.

- Being the 25th of June in the southern emisphere, I couldn't help thinking of today as the australian Christmas time. I mean, this is how the weather is like on their 4th day after the Winter solstice and it doesn't even come close to the Christmas I'm used to in Italy. I was wearing light sneakers and nothing more than a jumper when I went out this afternoon. 19°C, for crying out loud! I might get used to this.

- Unfortunately I wasn't as productive as I wish I had been, but I think I'll forgive myself.

- I think I got a pay rise [interesting page about rise and raise]. I mean, my salary suddenly went up last week and I got proof today when I received the salary for last week. Despite the same amount of hours, I got almost $90 more this time than a couple of weeks ago! Wow! Looks like somebody will be getting a new phone soon!
By the way, what should I do in this situation? I mean, I've never received a pay check since I started working at the restaurant, so I haven't been keeping track of the pay per hour, but definitely this time I got payed a lot more than before, so, what should I do? Do you thank your bosses in these situations? Because Davina hasn't mentioned anything to me before actually raising my wage.

- I started watching Sherlock - as in I started and finished Season 1 - and feel bad about blogging about petty things like the above, when Martin Freeman gets to blog about his adventures with Benedict Cumberbatch.

Day #139

I had a quiet day spent at home. I Skyped with a friend from high school and then I had a walk with Sabrina on Racecourse Rd. In the afternoon we had a Potter-nostalgia moment and watched HP and the Order of the Phoenix - how on Earth does Dolores Umbridge get more annoying by the day?!

After the movie, we headed out for another stroll and once back home I spent the rest of the evening catching up on Pretty Little Liars. Now I'm up to date and looking forward to this week episode :D

Planning on having a more productive day tomorrow.

Day #138

DAY OFF!!!
At church today I found none other than two customers I had last week, and they recognized me! I took a moment to place them, I knew I saw them at the restaurant, but I couldn't really put my finger on a detail or a date. When I saw the older woman, though, I recognized them as two of the party who came in last Sunday to celebrate the 95th birthday of the grandmother. I was even more impressed when the daughter of the old lady remembered my name! They must have enjoyed their dinner!

I spent most of the day with Jess. I visited her in her new apartment in New Farm and then we had brunch close-by, in this café called The Ponycat. The setting was so cool, even though we had to crane our necks to look at the menu as it is written in chalk on a huge blackboard all around the counter and we were sitting in the alleyway as the other tables were full. I ended up getting a beef burger because as I mentioned before, I'm not proud of my red-meat-cooking skills and I like to get as much as I can when I'm having meals out. It was so yummy! And not crazy expensive, either.
After that, we walked up to Eagle St. Pier and from there we got on the free City Hopper Ferry which got us to North Quay, near the Treasury Casino and the square where the markets on Wednesday are set.
We decided to use the gift card Davina gave me last week and we went to the movies at the Myer Centre. We watched Despicable Me 2 and I loved it! There were some things I wouldn't have understood/wouldn't have laughed so out loud if I had been a kid, which makes me wonder whether this was one of those movies made for the adults accompaning children as well as for the kids themselves. Oh my, and what about the Minions?! Hilarious!

GIORNO LIBERO!!

Abbiamo visto Cattivissimo Me 2: bellissimo! Spassosissimo! E i minions, gli ometti gialli?! Epici!

Saturday 22 June 2013

Day #137

I think I might have got the trick to make good coffees :D About time! Now I just need to focus on being faster :S You never stop learning, do you?
Nothing much to tell you today. I worked a lot and tonight we closed really late as one table didn't leave till the very last moment! But tomorrow I will be off, so I didn't mind that much.
Now I'm off to bed as it's almost 1am and I am exhausted.

Friday 21 June 2013

Day #136

Had the day off today. I went downtown with Sabrina and met with her friend Eva for breakfast on Queen St. We did a little bit of shopping, but I didn't buy anything. Almost. I just got a hand cream at Daiso, this japanese chain that sells everything at $2.80. My hands are getting creepy, all dry and full of cuts because of the water and chemicals I'm using at the restaurant.

In the afternoon I went to restaurant as Davina was trying out the cocktails we proposed for the new cocktail menu. Mine sucked, like, big time - and I wonder how's that even possible since this time I got the recipes on the Internet and didn't make them out by myself!! Oh well, Kyle's Toblerone coktail tastes great - almost like an alcoholic milkshake! Yummy! And Tunda's Caribbean Sunset cocktail was nice as well! So, yeah, as I said, I'm not entirely satisfied with my two cocktails, but with Davina we worked out a way to make them tastier.

Tonight I cooked dinner for Cake and me and as foreseen, it was a poor counterpart for what she prepared yesterday. Oh well, she ended up liking it anyway. I cooked spirals with prawns and zucchini.

Thursday 20 June 2013

Day #135

Yes, I was definitely over-reacting yesterday. Today everything went fine: I had lunch shift at the restaurant, we had a couple of tables coming in, so it was not too busy, but neither boring. Besides, I got really good tips :D Then, once home, Cake offered to cook dinner for the two of us and we went to the supermarket on Racecourse Rd to get the last couple of ingredients - that is to say, rice and coconut milk.
We had Thai food, of course, and it was just awesome! Coconut rice with prawns and cabagge in soy beans sauce. Yummy! We decided tomorrow will be my turn to cook dinner for us and I'm 100% positive it's not going to be as tasty as hers! Oh well, I guess I can live with the shame if I get to have some more of that prawns and cabagge in the near future.

Our unit is in a frenzy these days, because - I don't know how, but - Cake got the Beta IoS 7 to Sabrina and Paolo. And now the two of them are playing with their iPhones as kids would do with their shiny new toys on Christmas day. You should see them!

I might be falling sick. The weather is so cold these days, temperatures have been dropping in the last couple of weeks and I'm afraid I might have caught a cold. My throat is sore and my tonsils have swollen to the size of tennis balls. Hurray.

Evviva.

Day #134

This new roommate thing is not going as smoothly as I would have hoped for.
Let's just say I haven't had time to clarify what I wanted to, yet. I feel sorry for Cake because, despite her being utterly clueless, she is really sweet (pun unintended) and once prompted, even willing to help me out fixing her mess- it's just that I can't run after her to check what she does and does not, I'm not her mom!
Maybe I'm just over-reacting. Maybe I'm just a little bit grumpy for no reason.

Forse sto solo esagerando.

Tuesday 18 June 2013

Day #133

Sorry for being MIA the last few days. I just didn't feel like writing on here at all.
I had a pretty rough weekend, and even though nice and exciting things happened, bad stuff happened as well. In case you were wondering, fighting on Skype with your mom is even worse than doing that with your sister.
I'll just write you a recap of the good news.

On Day #130, Saturday, 15 June 2013: Davina announced the winner of the cocktail competition we had going on the last couple of months. The Brianza cocktail I invented was the second best seller, but as the first one was Davina's own drink, I won the contest between the staff and got a 30 bucks gift card for the movies. Sweet. This Thursday I need to turn in another two cocktails for the next season. They must be wintery drinks, suggestions are welcome :)

On Day #131, Sunday, 16 June 2013: Cake, the Thai girl who came to visit the house last Monday, moved in. On a superficial level, I'm happy because this means my rent will be cheaper from now on, even though my freedom might be limited now. On the other hand, it's nice to get to know her and her culture. As I mentioned you last week, I was a little bit worried about the language barrier that might come between us, but it seems like she has a really nice Vocabulary App on her cellphone that might come in handy. What worries me know - yeah, I know, I'm ALWAYS worrying - is the culture clash that I'm just starting to experience now. I opened the cupboard today and the stench smell of herbs and spices was so overwhelming I coughed. Or the fact that she sits on my part of the bed when removing her shoes or socks or that she leaves our bedroom door open when she leaves the house and I'm still sleeping in bed, you know, small things that the sooner we clarify, the better.
For the rest, she seems lovely, of course we come from two very different worlds and I will try harder to understand hers and find compromises - I'm just sharing with you the first night impressions.

On Day #132, Monday, 17 June 2013: I stayed in, in the morning, but decided to head downtown in the late afternoon - early evening, because a) I haven't been eating red meat in a while - somehow I do not seem able to get a nice and tender steak to cook nor to cook a nice and tender steak b) at the Beach House, this pub downtown - I went there once with Claire and Sophie - on Monday night they serve steak and chips for just 10 dollars.
It was a nice meal. Claire joined me and thank goodness we did some shopping and bought a sweater each before going to the Beach House, because when it was time to come back home, the Brisbane night air was more than chilly. I was wearing a thick knit sweater and on top my newly-bought sweater, and still I could feel cold.

It's just Tuesday morning as I'm writing, hence I do not know whether anything worth while telling is going to happen today. Should that be the case, I'll update this post tonight after work.

Qualche suggerimento?

Friday 14 June 2013

Day #129

I ended up checking almost all the items on my to-do list, even though you might have noticed I didn't have time to re-write yesterday entry.

Today it was a big cleaning day for me. I replaced the bed linen and moved my stuff so that Cake will have a clear idea of her spaces once she moves in this Sunday. Still have to find a place for my small collection of books - half borrowed from the library, half mine - that is currently on top of Cake's chest of drawers.
Before getting some work done in the house though, I went to Claire's and spent some time there. We did our shopping together and back at her place we shared a salad. Her unit looks really nice now! They even have a blackboard on which they leave messages to one another.

Now I'm heading to bed as tomorrow is going to be hell at the restaurant: Racecourse Rd will host the Winter's Lights Festival tomorrow afternoon, so we're bound to have the restaurant packed. Hopefully, Davina will back me up in my lunch shift - coffee comes out nice these days, it's just that sometimes my 'hot milk' is not hot enough for the customer and sometimes it's far too hot, just make up your freaking mind already!
Tomorrow night Davina will also be announcing the winner of our small cocktail competition. I know for sure the Brianza was a good seller, but was it the best? We'll know for sure tomorrow :D

Day #128

Tomorrow I will have the day off and I have tons of things to do: get the house ready to welcome Cake, do my laundry, write a couple of postcards I was supposed to mail the other day, answer back to fb messages, shave but most importantly write a proper blog entry for today.
It's 10:30PM and I'm going to bed now. Unbelievable! But with a full belly - Claire took us (Paolo, Sabri and me) out for dinner - and a day at the restaurant, I'm looking forward to some sleep.

Day #127

So late! I'm pretty sure I already wrote something on the line of 'why do I always end up going to bed so late?', so I'll skip that part and cut short.

Today I went to the markets with Claire and then I helped her out with some shopping for her new house. We went to The Reject Shop, this place that's super cheap and sells anything from Willy Wonka's Nerds to decorative bird cages - don't ask me why would you want one.

Today was also Tony and Davina's sons birthday - I think I mentioned they are twins. I got them Pixar birthday cards and two Kinder Surprise and they loved it. I actually asked Davina what they would like best and she told me that the small toys in the chocolate egg would make them happy and they did! :)

Day #126

Today I met Jess for breakfast as I hadn't seen her in weeks. We hit the Pancake Manor, this place downtown open 24/7, reknown for its delicious pancakes. Having the sweet tooth I have, I enjoyed it thoroughly! The place is in an old deconsacrated chapel/church, completely refurbished: not only the food is great and available around the clock, but the setting rocks! Catching up with Jess was nice as always - you know I did have some stories to share.

Later, I got back home and I've been stuck to my laptop ever since. I think I mentioned yesterday how addictive Pretty Little Liars proved to be!
Oh well, luckily tomorrow I'll get more fresh air: I'm meeting up with Claire to go to the markets and do some shopping downtown and later I'll be working at the restaurant.

Credo di aver accennato ieri a quanto Pretty Little Liars crei dipendenza!

Day #125

Super quick post because I'm too hooked on Pretty Little Liars to stop watching one episode after the other.

Today
- Cake came over to see the house with her uncle. They're Thai and she came to Australia one month ago to study English. She studies in South Bank and works 15 minutes walk from here. In the afternoon she confirmed she'll be moving in this coming Sunday. The language might porve to be an issue, especially since she's just a beginner in learning English, but after one month of school she speaks good enough, so I'm confident we'll be able to understand each other all right.
- was Public Holiday in Australia. It was Queen's Birthday, even though her real birthday is somewhen in April. I went to Chermiside shopping centre with Sabri and Paolo for lunch and later had cupcakes with them as afternoon snacks. Yummy!
- the weather sucked, so we stayed in and watched Inception all together. I had never seen it before and it got me a splitting headache. No kidding.
- I watched something like 6 episodes of PLL in a row - with just a dinner break! I cannot stop! Two episodes to go and I'm through the first season.

Day #124

Why do I always end up going to bed at these ungodly hours?!
I had dinner with Claire tonight. I cooked pasta at her place - why am I always cooking at other people's places, by the way? 'Control freak', whispers a voice in the background.

Anyway, we started a new book: Jumper by Steven Gould. It's going to be a little bit harder to read this one since we do not live together anymore, but I'm sure we'll do just fine.

Tomorrow, somebody named Cake - whom I hope turns out to be a girl - is coming to our unit because she answered the ad I posted on Gumtree. The name sounds weird all right, but what concerns me the most is that even though I asked for details - such as age/nationality, I mean, the ad title mentioned that the room was available for a girl, so I didn't bother checking Cake's gender - I got no answer back. I just hope Cake doesn't turn out to be some creepy old man or worse a creepy old serial killer! Well, If I don't post anything tomorrow night, you know what happened.

Day #123

Today's my little sister thirteenth birthday, I cannot believe she's already that old! Not too little anymore, is she now?! Wow! Crazy how the time flies..
Speaking of which, two days ago marked my 4th month in Australia. C-razy!

I wish I had more to tell you, but truth is, I had a pretty regular day today - I'm starting to dread the word ''regular'' as it often means ''boring'' in my case. My mom today said I should be wilder - not really sure what she meant by that one, what I know is, I'm far too tired to do much but fall asleep in the next 10 minutes tonight. Besides, tomorrow promises to be a very busy morning at the restaurant: there was a big race tonight at the Eagle Farm Racecourse and all those people watching and betting will have to get their breakfast somewhere tomorrow morning!
Off, I go!

Vado!

Friday 7 June 2013

Day #122

Today I posted an ad on Gumtree as I said I would and I already got an answer: this Italian girl wants to see the unit. Let's see how that goes.

For the rest, I had quite the ''regular day'': woke up late because yesterday I went to bed really late, ate a lot at breakfast, cleaned my bathroom, did my laundry, vacuumed the living room, kitchen and bedroom, watched a movie, ate some more... regular, you know. To top it all, this evening I was working at the restaurant.

Wow. I am, like, the most boring person I know. That's tiredness who's typing though, because otherwise I could write to you about the neighbours who came in the restaurant tonight and greeted me with 'Hi. You live in the unit below ours. Nice to meet you, finally''. On a side note, I'm, like, the worst neighbour you could ever get! I'm always shut in my room and don't know/care anything about the other people who live in my block of units. Oh well, at least, next time I will be able to recognize Brad and Suzanne!

Bo, vediamo come va.

Day #121

Jeez, it's quarter past 1AM and I just got back from Claire's place - yes, you read right, as in she got back yesterday from Italy and she is not coming back to live with Paolo, Sabrina and me.
I found that out last week but then the whole Melbourne thing came out and I was too busy with the trip arrangements to post a new ad on Gumtree and look for a new roommate.

Anyway, Claire had some things my family sent me: books - only my grandma could think of sending me a copy of the Gospel, small gifts for my birthday, letters, my camera magically restored to its former glory and my epilator, at last!

Now I'm going to bed because whilst Claire still had jet lag and didn't feel too sleepy, I, on the other hand was fighting to stay awake. It's going to be harder to find time to talk and watch movies and read books like we used to when we were sharing the room, but we already agreed on our next reading, so I'm confident we'll be able to find some time to spend together. I'm glad she is back in the neighbourhood. I really missed her.

Mamma mia!

Day #120

Last day in Melbourne. This morning I said goodbye to Jess and her family and I set with my trolley in hand to visit the Fitzroy suburb, Melbourne first suburb, where street art meets vintage meets bars and pubs. I went on a graffiti hunt and my goodness, there were so many writings and beautiful pictures!!! Here are some pictures. I'm sure I missed most of them, but you have to understand that most of the time they were sprayed on lonely alley walls, not the best place to be alone, if you know what I mean.

I followed Jess's and her brother Luke's advice and I walked on Brunswick St, Gertrude St and Smith St, that is to say, the main streets of the suburb. I stopped at a Fish and Chips on Brunswick to get lunch and then walked a little bit more through vintage shops, book shops 'where shhhhhh happens', coffee shops and other kinds of shop where they sold special herbs that promised happiness, no hangover and swore to be harmless.

From Fitzroy, I walked up to the Carlton Gardens, but I didn't have time to visit the Melbourne Museum as I was to catch the Free City Tram to Southern Cross Station and from there the Skybus that would have taken me to the airport.
Flight was on time and smooth. Tiger Airways terminal was still a shame, but the tickets were so cheap I should be ashamed to complain!
Paolo came and picked me up from Brisbane Airport as I landed.

I had a great time in Melbourne, mainly because of Jess, her amazing family and their warm welcome. The weather was far better than I would have ever hoped for but the Taylors made me promise to visit back in summertime, as 'Melbourne is even better then'. I wouldn't know what to expect more from this incredible city, but I'll be as happy as ever to oblige.

Ultimo giorno a Melbourne.

Ho passato quattro giorni fantastici a Melbourne.

Day #119

Going to bed, old sports! Will update the blog with the amazing things I did today, tomorrow!

Vado a letto, vecchi miei!!!

Day #118

So, yesterday night I went at The Harp and there I met Jess's friends and collegues.
I might have had one too many drinks because I totally thought I couldn't puke to save my life - yeah, if I do not have any filter today it's because I still might be a little hungover - and turned out I was dead wrong.
Never have I had it this bad - I might have passed out on the toilet as well. Charming, uh? I didn't do anything too stupid of course and I didn't even get the floor dirty, but yeah, I think I had enough alcohol for a while.

Jess and I slept in this morning and then we had lunch in St. Kilda - the cool and groovy area of Melbourne - in this really nice restaurant seafront called Stokehouse. I was starving and I got a burger with chips. Nice. Then we had a little walk on the beach front and on one of the piers there, man, was it cold!!! The weather unfortunately wasn't as good as yesterday: the sky was cast and such a cold wind was blowing from the ocean.

We soon went to Acland St, famous for its patisseries, fancy pubs and eccentric shops. Of course we stopped to buy pastries, but we were both really tired and not fit to do anything but get on the car and head back home to take a nap. That is the state we've been in pretty much since we woke up this morning. We had coffees and we had turns for the shower, but that got us going just for a few hours. Now I'm feeling a whole better and I'm ready to get some serious sleep. Tomorrow is a big day, we'll be visiting the Melbourne Aquarium, Chinatown, Federation Square and some more of the city centre.

This evening Jess was working, poor thing, so I had dinner with her family and we shared the stories about the time we spent in the Maldives - they visited her last June when she was still working there.
Andiamo all'Acquario di Melbourne, a Chinatown, in Federation Square e in generale in altri punti importanti in centro.

Sunday 2 June 2013

Day #117

Writing from Jess's room in Kew, VIC.
As you may know, early this morning I flew to Melbourne to meet my friend whom I worked with in Maldives and who lives there. The flight went all right, no delays and even though the landing was a bit rough and the arrival terminal was the closest thing to a converted warehouse I've ever seen, everything went smoothly and the Skybus took me to the City in less than half an hour.

I walked straight to the Queen Victoria Markets - picture Covent Garden in London, can you imagine it 7 or 8 times bigger?!? They are huge, covered markets, where you can find anything from fresh fruit, to original belt buckles, from salted nuts to fairy costumes. I kind of got lost and missed all the awesome things I could have had in the food hall, not that I didn't enjoy the pizza I had, I'm just saying I might have wanted to try a doughnut or a churro for a change..

Anyway, I still haven't mentioned the most important thing about the day - well second, the first being that meeting Jess was bananas! I mean, isn't the World AWESOME? You can just travel to one city and meet amazing friends you worked with on a tropical island, isn't that just amazing?
Anyway, I was saying: the weather was glorious!!! A tid bit too warm to wear both my sweater and coat! For Melbourne standards? It was the best day they had in a while!!!
I love this city's colours! In Brisbane, even though it's autumn, you don't have any yellow leaves nor carpets of fallen ones on the sidewalks. On the other hand, in Melbourne it does look like we're in fall! Beautiful! The sky was so blue today.

To get to Jess I rode on the 35 tram, which runs around the city centre and is free. It was a pretty good ride even though the tram itself was a little bit old and rusty and threatened to fall over during  a turn.

Jess's house is huge and it's so pretty. There I met her family, Jacinta and Ken, her parents, and Maeve, her younger sister. We had a small barbecue for dinner and everything was super tasty. As a dessert, we jumped on this totally awesome fruit basket and now Jess and I, we're getting ready to hang out at the pub where she works, The Harp.
Cristina, a friend of hers, is coming to pick us up any minute. Jess says I won't know what'll hit me tonight. I am kind of ready to party, I mean, it has been 4 months since I last hung out with my friends in Italy for drinks, it's about time I go out again.

Bellissimo!

Day #116

No real post today. Sorry, but I'm behind on a thousand things for tomorrow, it's 11:30pm - got back from work half an hour ago - and tomorrow Paolo can drive me to the airport only at 7. If I'm lucky and fast enough, I'll be able to sleep 5 hours and a half tonight.
My flight is at 9:45am, but a) Paolo is free and willing to drive (and he's dropping off a friend of his as well) b) I checked the public transportations and it's 20 bucks for one hour journey, when it takes 10 minutes by car from our house. Guess I'll just grab breakfast at the airport!

Work was good today, been really busy both at lunch and dinner but, surprisingly, I did not freak out, not even once, not even a tiny bit. Getting better, people ;) I'd also like to point out that at lunch time I did quite a few coffees and everybody appreciated them. Yay!

Now I'm off to shower. Talk to you from Melbourne, VIC! Hopefully I'll find wifi somewhere :D

This is surreal, by the way. My brain hasn't fully processed what is actually going to happen yet.
Can't believe I'm doing this. I'm so much cooler than I'd thought.

È successo tutto così in fretta!!!
